Cancer diagnosis - No insurance

Hello all,

About a week ago a coworker of mine came to my office in tears. She knew that I was a Southland member and wanted me to use all my resources to get the word out about one of our coworker's sister. She is in her 50's, single and is considered part of the 'working poor' because she refuses to live on government assistance. She has been a substitute teacher for years and doesn't have a car reliable enough to travel outside of her small town.

Last week she was diagnosed with cancer, and since she doesn't have insurance, she is not receiving any priority. In fact, they can't even tell her what type of cancer it is and her first appointment isn't until November 4th.

I ask all readers to lift her up in your prayers. I also ask if anyone has any information about ways she could receive quicker help or assistance with her medical bills, please pass on those details. She lives in Taylorsville, near Louisville, but her sister would be more than willing to bring her to Lexington if that option were available. I want to exhaust all efforts to prevent this child of God from falling through the cracks.
