Dear Church,
While I was out in the bush this past week, I was struck again how clearly God has explained the time line of future events for all of us. The gospel of Matthew clearly tells us in the 24th chapter at verse 14, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." So how many of these "nations" (or better defined as "people groups") are left to hear? I am not going to even attempt to explain it to you as I have not fully wrapped my head around a definition of "unreached people group" but some estimates have the total number of "people groups" as just over 16,000 while the total number of unreached "people groups" total approximately 6,500. So returning to the gospel of Matthew....."when every people group has heard".....translated, when these 6500 groups have the gospel of the kingdom then the end will come! If we can grasp the incredible significance of this, try to comprehend this one......God has entrusted this task to not governments and not His angels but to you and I.....His Church! How crazy is that?!?!?
These past three weeks I have had the opportunity to help a group from Germany better understand their role in this task of "preaching the gospel of the kingdom" to every people group. New Tribes has been working here in Mozambique among three of these unreached people groups. The Yao...380,000 people, the Macua Mwiniga...300,000 people, and the Lolo....150,000 people. Last week I was able to take this group to visit two of these people groups. The Macua Mwiniga which is a completely Muslim group and then the Lolo which are more of a spiritualist group. Among the Macua Mwinga we have two couples who are in their final phases of language and culture study before they will be able to begin Bible translation and teaching. In the Lolo we have one couple and one single man. (The single man just recently got malaria and almost died so has returned to the US to recoup and gain his strength back.) Among the Lolo the couple has already received a level of proficiency in the language that allows teaching to take place and there is already a handful of believers! To see how the Lord continues to work through His Church in this way was such an encouragement! Thanks for all you guys have done being on our ministry team. While the task is far from being accomplished continue to be faithful. THANKS!
Be in prayer also for our family these next few weeks. As I mentioned I have been quite busy with this group from Germany (they leave tomorrow, Saturday) and will have been here a total of three weeks. Part of their time here was spent away from my family which meant Sharon was a "single parent" to three children....all under the age of 4. :) Just recently a great opportunity for Sharon was made available. Her youngest brother is getting married in the States. Also Sharon's parents are planning on returning to Brazil to continue in a work among one those 6500+ unreached people groups mentioned above. Since this is likely going to be the last time their family will be together for some time we looked to see if it would be possible for Sharon to return for this wedding and mini-family reunion. God continues to provide in amazing ways and Sharon, along with Wesley, will be returning to the US for three weeks. They leave tomorrow (Saturday, June 20) and will be spending some time at our home church in Lexington, Kentucky and then be spending time in the Wisconsin/Minnesota area for her brother's wedding. While her time there is short she would love to see those whom she can. A friend of ours has offered to lend her a cell phone from Monday, June 22 through Thursday, July 9. That number is (859) 321-2368. While we would appreciate prayers for her and Wesley as they travel, don't forget to "African men" that are left behind here in Mozambique. :) The boys have just experienced single parenting with their mother and now they will get their father. I'm not sure that we will ask them which they prefer but do keep us ALL in your prayers.
